What should you do if your back or neck hurts when you move?
Or is the pain is going down your leg?
Most back and neck pain will settle spontaneously in a couple of days. However even if it lasts a bit longer, that does not mean it is a serious issue. Our physiotherapists will do a thorough assessment and then look at your movement, along with assessing the joints, muscles and nerves. Treatment may include advice, exercises, joint or nerve mobilisations and possibly lifestyle adjustments.
We usually encourage you to keep moving rather than rest and stiffen up.
X-rays and MRIs are rarely useful but we would refer you if it is appropriate.
